You really learn a lot about a client when you see them in their element. The beautiful and talented Cristina Vitiello was holding a trunk show at Paul Labrecque on Columbus Ave today for her jewelry line Cristina V. (www.cristinav.com) and it was there that I got to witness first hand what made her so passionate about her work.

I had planned to meet her there to drop off a couple things and pick up a few items from her new spring summer line. Cristina was busy helping a customer, an older man, who was holding up and scrutinizing a gorgeous long pearl necklace. “I’m going to take it,” he said. “I think my wife will look so lovely in it.” He looked very pleased.

Once Cristina had finished wrapping up the necklace and saying good bye to her customer, I approached her and said how sweet that whole exchange was. “Mary,” Cristina said, “he wasn’t even here to buy anything but he passed by the table and said how he couldn’t just walk by without giving his wife something very very special and asked me what I thought about almost every piece on display. We finally decided on the pearls and you could tell how excited he was to go home and give them to her.”

As we discussed how more guys should take a page out of that man’s book she mentioned how more than anything what she loved about her job was knowing the happiness her pieces bring to both the gifter and receiver. So take note boys!
